Today is Chairman Fred Young’s 80^th birthday.

Fred’s parents founded Forest City Gear when he was just 11 years old. After returning from the Navy after college, only child Fred begrudgingly returned to Roscoe to take the reins from his parents. As an avid outdoorsman and English Lit major, manufacturing wasn’t necessarily his destiny (or so he thought). Under Fred’s leadership for nearly 50 years, Forest City Gear expanded and became world-renowned. These days, Fred spends most of his time with his daughters and grandchildren or dreaming about trout.

We’re thankful for Fred’s spirit and leadership. Happy birthday, Fred!
