Forest City Gear hosted its third blood drive on June 23, 2023, supporting the Rock River Valley Blood Center. Seventeen Forest City Gear team members participated in the drive. One Forest City Gear team member won a gas gift card, and every team member to donate received a Beef-A-Roo gift card and a certificate for a pint of Culver’s frozen custard.

“I have donated blood over the years, and it is an extremely easy way to do something tangible that saves actual lives in our community,” said Kika Young, Forest City Gear President. “During my mom’s battle with cancer, she regularly received blood transfusions when her hemoglobin was too low, or when she needed extra help to fight an infection. Watching that firsthand was what inspired us to host blood drives. We are hopeful this initiative will continue to grow.”

The Rock River Valley Blood Center supplies the total blood needs for 13 area hospitals; this requires collecting more than 800 units of blood per week to fully meet patients’ needs. To support the Rock River Valley Blood Center and save a life, click here.
