Forest City Gear Sends 8 Students to Helios Gear School
May 6, 2025
Forest City Gear is pleased to send eight team members to Helios Gear School in May.
The school, run by Helios Gear Products, is designed for entry-level professionals in gear manufacturing, from engineers to operators to quality control personnel. Forest City Gear has steadfastly supported the school since its establishment in the early 1990s, when it was known as Koepfer Gear School, by hosting tours and mentoring students. The eight students to attend this year will make 53 lifetime Forest City Gear attendees of the Helios Gear School in Elgin.
“We send our team to the Helios Gear School because it’s an investment in both technical growth and the kind of cross-pollination that elevates our entire industry,” says Kika Young, President of Forest City Gear. “When knowledge is shared, everyone wins. The Helios team represents a commendable legacy of this type of knowledge-sharing and we’re always eager to invest in our folks.”
Forest City Gear will also continue the tradition of hosting a facility tour for Helios Gear School students; for more than thirty gears, the Forest City Gear tour has been a staple of the school for students to learn about gear cutting, shaping, and inspection.
“For decades, the Helios Gear School has empowered industry engineers and technicians to drive innovation,” says Adam Gimpert, President of Helios Gear Products. “For generations, the fundamentals taught at our program have strengthened Forest City Gear’s ability to produce world-class gearing, industry-leading precision, and excellence. We take pride in being a trusted resource for their ongoing success.”
